No, not really, it works just fine. Its whole purpose is to be able to deal good damage to any target, and keep itself clean of all the rampant hexes which make melee generally useless these days. The attack skills recharge fast enough that I can switch targets and do around 200 damage in a matter of seconds. I'm not a monk stomper, and it's not like kiting is that common in RA anyway. Melee has to get close to be effective, and this can lineback very well. Rangers tend to sit still and smug and think that [natural stride] or [lightning reflexes] will save them. I tend to get the last laugh and by the time they do try to move away half their health is gone anyway. My whole strategy is to not do what the opposition expects, and what they expect is for me to chase the monk around and [empathy][insidious parasite] myself to death. I get plenty of non-monk kills, and what really wins games is being able to score kills on the support while the monk is being pressured.
Believe me, when I want IMS/snare on an assassin, I just load up [way of the master][crippling sweep][wounding strike][dash] and kill the hell out of everything. Especially since it works better on an assassin than a dervish primary. But that gets boring after a while, and hex stacks get real old real fast. Sometimes I actually like to be creative and have a little fun and maybe enjoy the game I've spent all this money on, and not just run the "best" builds every time.

Imo, might as well use an elite if your going to run double hex removal on a sin.
( [signet of removal] / [empathic removal] ) ( [Vigorous Spirit] / [critical defenses] ) [Dash][jagged strike][wild strike][golden fang strike][death blossom][resurrection signet]

You can get away with it if your combo has a fast recharge, as you can simply switch targets if your goal is global pressure/dps.

It's nice because it ends [wastrel's worry] by being a skill used, and that doesn't count towards the hex removal, so VoR goes away too.
@Ketsu, the IAS, 33% increased chance to critical, and nonstop energy flow are hard to pass up. The Assassin's energy engine is all that makes high-energy builds like this work. No other class can generate this much energy at will. A wammo with [warrior's endurance] could possibly keep up, and even have more DPS and utility, but i haven't tried that one yet.

The only reason I even use [way of the assassin] is because of the IAS. It just so happens that the skill which gives me that also puts a lot of purple 3's above my head. Take away the DPS from fast attacking and >40% chance of crits, and I'd just as well run Shattering, which practically forces you into a Zealous set anyway.
I also love playing Packhunter, so here's my take on it. 2 variants as well.
Both are 12 BM, 12 Spear, 9 Expertise. 600 health, 20-25 energy, Clarity Rune + blind reduction mod on shield, full Beastmaster Insignias.
[tiger's fury][poisonous bite][barbed spear][holy spear][merciless spear][heal as one][charm animal][resurrection signet]
[tiger's fury][enraged lunge][barbed spear][holy spear][merciless spear][comfort animal][charm animal][resurrection signet]
Healing or damage, your choice.
It's amazing how few people take advantage of pet controls. A pet is like a free warrior hench, and probably no less effective. And now you can lock it onto a target while you're attacking someone else. It's a beautiful thing, and so greatly underused in arenas.
But [holy spear] is a true gem. I put it on my bar during the EotN preview, and simply cannot ever replace it. Nothing punishes Communing rits like Holy Spear. And we all know just how much we hate Communing rits. Lock pet on; equip longbow or flatbow; send pet in to draw turret aggro; build up 4 adrenaline; switch to spear; let [holy spear] fly; watch the flames, smoke, and yellow 75's fill the screen; smile and repeat as necessary. The beauty of the skill is that even if you don't face spirit shitters it's still nice damage for just 4 adrenaline, but if you do, it's like Izzy just dropped in and put [searing flames] on your skillbar for the duration of the match.

using hex removal on wastrel's worry will only remove wastrel's worry. any skill can remove WW but it only goes away after the skill has been activated, so the hex underneath wont be removed.
the enraged lunge bar need more beast mastery skills.

tiger's fury disables comfort animal and charm animal. thats 2 recharging skills there. also, enraged lunge counts itself so it is now 3 if timed right. but lets not forget tiger's fury itself takes 10 seconds to recharge, so now we have 4!!

If you're the one using the hex removal, the skill use will end wastrel's before the hex removal effect, thereby removing wastrel's and the hex underneath it. For example if you have VoR and wastrel's on you and use remove hex, using it will end wastrel's, it will remove VoR and you take X damage from VoR once. This is one reason why you see a lot more monks in RA using cure hex rather than trying to pre-veil, because removing veil with wastrel's on top of VoR, backfire, diversion, etc. will only remove the wastrel's.

its amazing how little clue you have about the incredible amount of pet abuse in the arenas, especially TA.
Moreover, a pet powered by an enraged lunge spam>>>>>>>a warr as far as rough dps is concerned.

ppl abused the pets for all kinds of purposes, mainly for the overrewarding dlunge and then savage pounce (only d lunge got hit, i believe). then ofc, abuse for daze with bestial mauning (tripple hammer warrs with pets and bestial mauning or dual, sometimes tripple, thumpers were a fairly strong gimmick back in the days), abuse for body blocking (especially if there's 3 of them...btw, seen those pve phoenix pets? imagine 3 or 2 of them crowded in some small ta or ra map ), abuse for insane unblockable dps (with enraged lunge+cry or without) etc.
all pet interrupts are out of place in pvp, since they're 99 % luck based - and 100 % used on recharge.
moreover, killing a pet should punish the beast master/packhunter/thumper a lot more as it does. But that issue is already being discussed in the Skills that need fixing thread, so i wont repeat everything here, but just say that pet rez should be way more punishing as it currently is.
and im using the term "abuse" because players use them in gimmicky builds alone to "lame around", as i like calling it. it basically rewards rolling ur head on ur keyboard 24/7 a lot more it should have.

I fully know how much pets are abused in TA/HA, etc.. However, TA has its own sub-forum, whereas (and it's amazing you didn't notice) this is the RA thread, and the only such place on Guru where one is allowed to post RA builds. And in RA no, people mostly don't use pet controls to their full potential.
By "free warrior hench" I meant just that, a piece of dumbed-down melee AI that chases things around and hits stuff. I wasn't comparing the pet's DPS to a warrior's.

The line between RA and TA is blurred in the current meta more then ever now that TA is dead most of the time. ID1 is practically the new TA.
